Dave Mattews Named Director of College Recruiting

The Jr. Rhinos named Dave Matthews to the position of Director of College Recruiting. Dave will  help the organization’s students manage initiatives that enables them to enroll in a college that appropriately matches their academic, athletic and financial requirements. The position is designed to provide information, tools and resources to help students and their families choose a school where they can be successful and to prepare them for the recruitment process. "Dave will bring a knowledge, familiarity, and comfort to our players for a  complicated process" said Jim Mort, president of the Jr. Rhinos.

U-16 Girls Victorious in US Club Soccer Championship

With a stellar team effort, the Rochester Junior Rhinos Girls U16 Elite captured the US Club Soccer Club National Championship after a cliff-hanger of a game on Tuesday morning July 31.  Held at Bryan Park in Greensboro, NC, the US Club National Championship brought Regional Champion teams from all over the country together to battle for the coveted National Champion title.

The Jr. Rhinos advanced to the final match after accomplishing a 1-0-2 record in the preliminary matches.  The first play down match was against the highly ranked California Rush Nike team.  After finishing the first half with a 2-nil lead on goals from Veronica Santiago and Regina Nowicki , the Rhinos finished the game with a 2-2 draw despite solid goalkeeping from both Bre Maggio and Lindsay DeLap.  A late goal with one minute in regulation by the Black Diamond from Utah brought another 2-2 draw in the second game despite goals from Lindsay Tegas and the University of Maryland bound Ashley Grove.   Read More

Empire USA Certified in USSF's
National Player Development Academy

The Rochester Jr Rhinos in collaboration with the Syracuse Football Club and the Buffalo United Soccer Club have formed a new soccer academy, Empire United Soccer Academy.  The new academy ahs been certified by the USSF as a charter member of National Player Development Academy, an initiative by USSF to emulate the soccer training and competition model offered to player who qualify to train in the National Team program in Bradenton Florida.

Jr. Rhinos Teams Earn Regional Titles

The Boys U-12 Yellow team and the Girls U-16 Yellow team  won  Regional competitions in  in July. The boys competed in the the USYSA Region 1 Tourna anent held in Portland Maine,  and the Girls took top honors in Virgina Beach at the Region E US Club Soccer tournament. Three Boys Teams Advance in National Championship Series

Three Jr. Rhinos teams will be present at the Region 1 tournament in Portland, Maine in early July.  The Boys U-19, U-18 and U-12 teams all won the their New York State West age brackets and will now compete for the Region 1 title.
